Background

John-Everett Doling, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, participated in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack and was later prosecuted in both federal and state courts for conduct tied to the riot and to a 2021 drug raid at his home.

The Case

Prosecutors said Doling entered through the Parliamentary Door after watching another rioter break it with a crowbar, argued with another rioter inside, was hit with chemical irritant, and left after about seven minutes. In December 2024 he pleaded guilty to disorderly and disruptive conduct and parading. President Trump pardoned him before sentencing on the federal case.

In July 2021, roughly four months after the riot, Doling and his mother were arrested in Rabun County after a tip about drugs at his home. Local reporting described a search that recovered weapons, ammunition, suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, edibles, mushrooms, and other drugs, plus remains of protected birds. He pleaded guilty on March 16, 2022, to possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possessing a firearm during a crime, and was sentenced to eight years of probation. His Capitol conduct was part of the attack that disrupted the certification of the presidential election.

The Pardon

On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted Doling a full pardon under a proclamation covering certain offenses relating to the events at or near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
