Background

Michele Fiore is a former Las Vegas city councilwoman and former Nevada state legislator. She was serving as a Nye County Justice of the Peace when she was convicted in October 2024 of federal wire fraud and conspiracy; she was suspended without pay from the bench.

The Case

Fiore solicited more than $70,000 in charitable donations for statues honoring Las Vegas police officers killed in the line of duty, promising donors that “100% of the contributions” would go toward the memorials. Instead, she used the money for personal and political expenses, including plastic surgery, rent, political fundraising, and her daughter’s wedding. She was convicted of six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Each count carried up to 20 years in prison. Her conduct defrauded donors who gave in good faith to honor fallen officers and damaged public trust in charitable giving and elected officials. She was pardoned before sentencing.

The Pardon

On April 23, 2025, President Trump granted Fiore a full pardon.
